Metropica

1800 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise

263 residences · 28 stories

Metropica is a master-planned district rather than a single address: sixty-five acres in western Broward County, assembled by The Trillist Companies with Oppenheim Architecture, YOO Studio, CI Design and EDSA. The original master plan called for roughly 2,250 homes and 650,000 square feet of offices alongside fashion, dining and entertainment; the plan has since been amended and expanded, and construction of later phases continues.

The first residential tower, designed by Oppenheim and completed in 2020, holds 263 condominiums over twenty-eight floors, with interiors by YOO. What distinguishes the setting is how much of the surrounding acreage is programmed. Shops and restaurants sit within walking distance, and outdoor wifi carries across the green spaces. Beyond them are a five-star health and fitness facility, a resort-style beach club in the South Beach idiom, and a seventh-floor recreation level with a tennis club and mini-soccer fields.

The ambition behind it was to give west Broward the density and convenience of a city center without giving up the tropical landscape around it — a self-contained neighborhood where work, shopping and family life sit within a few minutes' walk of the front door, with the rest of South Florida a short drive beyond.
